Kimbolton Dental Practice places a strong emphasis on preventative care, helping our patients maintain healthy teeth and gums.
We offer comprehensive dental examinations which we recommend are attended on a regular basis so that any issues are recognised and diagnosed quickly. This helps prevent unnecessary pain and often avoids potential costs for the treatment of more advanced issues. Our experienced and dedicated team also offers fluoride treatments and dental hygiene appointments for a complete approach to preventative oral care.
Patient Profiles
To ensure we provide you with treatments and services relevant to your oral health needs, we ask all new patients to complete a medical history questionnaire. This is something that we renew every year so that we are aware of any current medical conditions or medication that you take. Oral health and general health are connected so it is important that we are aware of your current medical status to ensure the care we give you is appropriate. To ensure we have a complete awareness of your current oral health we also include an X-ray in your initial consultation with us.
Dental Examinations (Check-ups)
If you are a new patient we will complete an X-ray and discuss your oral health history before completing an examination. Even if you are a current patient, we will also ask for any new information on your general and oral health whenever you come in to see us. This is to ensure we are aware of any new developments that may affect your teeth and gums, such as pregnancy.
Once we have all the relevant information, we will complete a comprehensive oral examination of your teeth and gums. We may also be able to give you a scale and polish during your check-up. If any dental issues are identified, we will speak to you about them and our recommended treatment.
Fissure Sealants and Fluoride Varnish
As part of our professional prevention services at Kimbolton Dental Practice we offer fissure sealants and fluoride varnish. Both treatments work to protect the teeth from decay. Fissure sealants are often applied for children aged between 6 and 14, although they can be a useful treatment for adults too. Fluoride varnish not only helps protect against decay, but also remineralises the surface of the tooth being treated, helping to avoid excess sensitivity.
