As well as operating as a thriving dental surgery, we also run the Bedford Dental Academy a continuous professional development center for all the dental team.  Continuous professional development is an integral part of our training, courses and training sessions are held regularly. CONSULTANT IN RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY / SPECIALIST PRACTITIONER

Recognised by General Dental Council as a specialist in: Endodontics, Periodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics

Sandip qualified with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) from University College London (UCL) in December 1991

He worked in general dental practice for seven and then went onto further specialist training. He gained a Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDS RCPS) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow in 1998 and then undertook a three year full time specialist training programme in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute in London.

In 2000, he gained a Masters in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) in fixed and removable Prosthodontics from UCL, London.

In 2001 he was successful in the Membership examination (MRD RCS) and gained entry onto the GDC specialist list in Prosthodontics. Sandip continued further training and remained at the Eastman for a further four years to complete a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry training. He gained a further Fellowship (FDS (Rest Dent)) in 2004 and entry onto the GDC specialist lists of Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics and Periodontology.

In 2005, he was appointed to a new post as the first full-time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. His main remit within the Hospital was to treat patients with cleft lip and palate, oral cancer, trauma and hypodontia.

Sandip has been involved in treating patients with cleft lip and palate for over twenty years and set up the Cleft Clinical Excellence Network of which he is currently the chair.

He is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and is the Regional Specialty advisor for Restorative Dentistry in his region. He has undertaken Medico-legal work for many years and in 2015, he completed the Bond Solon Expert Witness training.

Julian Webber qualified from Birmingham University, UK in 1974 and worked in a National Health Service Practice for two years before continuing his education at Northwestern University Dental School, Chicago, Illinois.

A recipient of the Charles Freeman Scholarship of the American Dental Society of Europe he was the first UK dentist to receive a Master's degree in Endodontics from a US dental school, returning to the UK in 1978. He has held teaching positions at Guys and Eastman Dental Schools in London whilst maintaining a specialist endodontic practice in London since 1978. Currently, he practices and teaches at the Harley Street Centre for Endodontics.

Julian devotes much time to teaching, writing and contributing to numerous journals and textbooks on Endodontics. He was the editor of Endodontic Practice journal for over 20 years. The journal now has a major world circulation.

His major lectures include the British Dental Association, British Endodontic Society, Irish Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, European Society of Endodontology, Dutch Endodontic Society, Belgian Dental Association,The French Endodontic society and Dental Association, Hellenic Endodontic society, the Austrian Endodontic society, Arab Dentistry and AAEDC (Dubai), Portuguese Dental Association, the Malaysian Society of Endodontology , FDI Dubai, Singapore, Australia, Ukraine Dental Association, Serbian Endodontic Society, COSAE, Argentina and SBENDO, Brazil, Nomads South Africa. He has also given hands on courses in South Africa, India, Chile, China, Hong Kong Thailand, Mexico, Russia, Columbia,Guatemala.

He is visiting professor at the University of Belgrade, Serbia, former President, British Endodontic Society, member of the American Association Endodontists, European Society of Endodontology, American Dental Societies of London and Europe, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and Fellow of the ICD. A faculty member of the Pacific Endodontic Research Foundation San Diego, California, he has perfected and taught techniques on Microscope conventional and surgical Endodontics. Julian is co developer of Dentsply Sirona’s WaveOne Gold single NiTi file for use in reciprocation and WaveOne Gold Glider.

Aims and objectives/learning Outcomes

  • Understand the biological and mechanical objectives of shaping canals.
  • Appreciate the importance of Glide Path management and pre enlargement with the new reciprocating Dentsply Sirona WaveOne Gold Glider.
  • Use single file nickel titanium reciprocrating WaveOne Gold instruments to confidently shape ALL canals.
  • Predictably fill root canal systems efficiently with warm gutta-percha obturation techniques including Gutta Core.
